Origins Plantidote Mega Mushroom Face Serum: A Review

Lori Voth
If I had been required to pay for the Plantidote Mega Mushroom Face Serum product before trying it, I'm pretty sure this review would not be possible right now. That is, I would have refused.

It's not that I am opposed to mushrooms. Oh no, quite the contrary. Mushrooms are one of my favorite foods.

To eat.

Call me crazy, but the idea of covering my face with an exotic blend of fungi does not sound to me like an enjoyable or even mildly tolerable experience. I don't generally view mushrooms as a refreshing, wake me up, pore cleansing, pampering type of natural resource the way other ingredients found in facial products are. I also never really cared for the smell of them.

I am happy to say, though, that this is all in the past tense now, for I have recently been humbled. I now put serum derived from a mysterious blend of mushrooms on my face every night. I even encourage you to do the same.

It all started when I was lured to the Origins online store by a promotion: Purchase a single item at Origins.com and receive 5 sample items of your choice.

I love Origins products and I needed to buy something any way from them and free samples are one of the best ways to learn about new products. I immediately got out my credit card.

How it happened that I selected the Plantidote Mega Mushroom Face Serum just comes down to good luck and the fact that after choosing the first four items I did want, it was the only available sample left that I did not already own.

And good luck it was. The product works better than expected. I apply the Plantidote Face Serum twice daily as recommended. I use it following my cleansing routine.

It took about a week or two for the overall redness and lines in my face to appear more softened but I noticed other little differences even after the first night of use. It is difficult to pinpoint exactly what changes took place but the morning after I first used the Plantidote Serum my face felt smoother to touch and I seemed to appear less tired and stressed out.

The results I witnessed are in line with the intended goals of the product's creation.

The Plantidote Mega Mushroom Face Serum is a product by Dr. Andrew Weil made for Origins. Andrew Weil, M.D. is known for his integrative approach to medicine and has designed several products for the Dr. Weil for Origins line. Profits from the sale of these products go toward the Weil Foundation, a non profit organization that supports training, education and research toward integrative medicine.

Plantidote Mega Mushroom Face Serum was designed to "optimize skins' defenses". Whether your skin concerns involve wrinkles or puffiness, redness or lines this mushroom mix promises to alleviate the problem significantly.

The Dr. Weil for Origins Plantidote Face Serum is made from a blend of Hypsizygus Ulmarius, Cordyceps and Reishi Mushrooms, Ginger, Turmeric and Holy Basil and is said to be very potent.

The serum can be purchased from Origins Stores in a 1.7oz. Container for $66 or a 3.4oz. Container for $110. While this item is definitely pricey, I believe the purchase would be a worthy investment for people looking to treat those skin concerns that the face serum addresses.
