Orlando Bar Review: George's Bar & Grill

Brian Munger
Recently, I visited George's Bar & Grill in Orlando, Florida, which is conveniently located about 5 minutes off of Interstate 4.

When entering the building, you'll find a diverse crowd at this establishment. During my last visit, I saw all types. I saw the rough and rugged bikers. I saw the young group of females that looked like they were enjoying a summer off from college. I saw the old locals that probably sit on the same bar stool every night. I saw the hip guys in their 20's, just hanging out and playing darts. I even saw a young couple who appeared to be on a date. It seems like any type of individual can fit right in.

If you want a laid back place, with a little rowdy thrown in from time to time, then this is a good fit for you. If you are worried about finding a place to sit, then worry no longer. Even on a Saturday night, you will find many places to sit inside. Most people are attracted to the bar stools, but if they are full, there are tables to sit at, as well. There is no shortage of activities here, as they have darts and about six pool tables. In addition, they have table shuffleboard! Yes, you heard me right! Table shuffleboard! How many other bars can you find table shuffleboard at? They also have a jukebox with an up to date song list, so you have the chance to select your song and then sing along with your friends as you play some pool.

As far as drinks go, the drinks are reasonably priced. It seems that most people that go here are strictly beer drinkers; however, if you have a craving for something else, then the courteous bartenders will be more than happy to recommend a nice tasty shot for you.

I was very impressed by the friendliness of these bartenders. One of the bartenders was an older gentleman, who shared some interesting stories with us, which is always a nice change of pace from the boring bartender that always seems to have 1,000 glasses to clean just to avoid conversation from normal people at the bar. The other bartender was a very pleasant woman, who was extremely friendly and was always on top of things. What I liked most about her was what she said to me when she came over to me after I finished my first beer. She goes "Brian, would you like another Coors Light?" She called me by my name! That always impresses me. When someone takes the time to remember the name of a complete stranger, I feel very welcome . . . and it always pays off when it is time for me to decide how much to tip when I pay my tab at the end of the night.

One other thing I liked was they had more than one set of bathrooms, which is extremely convenient if you are on the far end of the building and don't want to walk all the way across the bar just to go pee. Plus, if a person has an "accident" in one of the bathrooms, you have the comfort of knowing that there is at least one other bathroom that is there for you!

I highly recommend George's! The address for George's is 5507 Edgewater Drive, Orlando, FL 32810, phone number (407) 291-6562.
