Orlando HamCation 2011 is Coming to Florida in February

Calling all Ham Radio operators! HamCation in Orlando, Florida is the place to be in February 2011. This amateur radio and computer show, the Orlando HamCation, will be held at the Central Florida Fairgrounds on February 11, 12 and 13th for all amateur Ham Radio operators. The event is chock-full of activities fitting the theme "Ham Radio brings communities together."

Be sure to visit HamCation's web site for directions to the fairgrounds, information about speakers, forums and prizes, vendor information, and ticket purchases. There is ample information concerning dates, times, places and prices for all activities and arrangements needed. You can also call the new HamCation Hotline at (407) 841-0874 (outside of Florida, please call (800) 214-7541 to leave a message with any questions you may still have.

Hours for HamCation are Friday, 12 noon to 6 p.m., Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm, and Sunday, 9 am to 2 pm. Tickets purchased in advance, before January 22, 2011, are $10.00 and qualify the purchaser to be entered for the Early Bird Prize on Friday of a ICOM IC-88OH D-STAR Transceiver. You can buy tickets at the gate for $12.00 that are good for all three days. Additional prizes will be offered on Saturday and Sunday, with numerous door prizes as well as one grand prize each day.

RV camping is available at the fairgrounds for an overnight fee of $25 per night, or the web site has information about nearby hotels. If you are interested in reserving an indoor swap table, or participating in the Tailgate area, please see the web site for details. Swap tables are $45 for all three days, and tailgating is $35 for the three days. These prices are in addition to the HamCation event ticket.

This is the 65th year that HamCation has been held, and there are plenty of special speakers, activities, a special forum for the ladies, even a Fox Hunt, ham-radio style! Quite a variety of vendors plan to cater to your food choices. If you are a ham radio enthusiast, consider attending Orlando HamCation 2011, hosted by the Orlando Amateur Radio Club at the Central Florida Fairgrounds.
