Orlando's Biggest Attractions Do Their Part for Earth Day

Christopher Blydenburgh
For the past 37 years, April 22 has meant one thing. Earth Day. A day for awareness of the environment and all that must be done to save and preserve it. From global warming to the overuse of our natural resources, Earth Day shines a light on important issues that we tend to forget about in our day to day lives. It also shines a light on endangered and newly extinct animals

While many Americans do their part for Earth Day, did you know that even Orlando's biggest and most popular attractions are stepping in to lend a hand? From Disney, to Sea World, to Busch Gardens, Orlando's biggest and best are making sure Americans are paying attention.

Let's start with the steps Sea World took this past year. They offered special live animal encounters and conservation themed activities. They also donated all of the proceeds from the tours on Earth Day to conservation efforts. They certainly made a significant contribution toward change and saving our planet.

Busch Gardens did their part to contribute as well. The held a large "Party for the Planet" celebration, with all sorts of activities. They offered animal exhibits, craft making, giveaways and more. They even had numerous conservation related activities and events.

For their part, Disney's Animal Kingdom held their own "Party For the Planet". They held their own selection of conservation related activities, involving such Disney character favorites as Rafiki from the Lion King and, of course, everyone's favorite mouse couple, Mickey and Minnie themselves. All seven of the main areas of the park were set up with activities for park attendees. They held their celebration over the course of two days, greatly extending the number of people who were able to take part in the celebration and thus learn more about how to do their own part to help our planet. This is an event for everyone to see.

It was certainly an informative day for all involved, but it was definitely fun for everyone. People had great time learning about all the different things they could do to better the planet and the awareness and donations raised will both play a big park in helping to conserve energy, save animals, and ensure the safety of our planet for future generations. If we all can learn to do our part at home, Earth Day could be every day and we would have a cleaner place to call home!
