Ortho Weed-B-Gon MAX Weed Killer for Lawns - Ready Spray

Good-bye Weeds Hello Nice Lawn

ItsGeneO
Being I purchased an older home that had little or no lawn care for over five years, I have been actively working to improve the appearance of my lawn through the use of several different brands of store bought chemicals. Now let me tell you, this is no easy task, nor is there a fool proof method to follow. Your lawn will depend on the location. I'm in north central Wisconsin and have very sandy soil so the application processes are different than say a lawn in Florida or Missouri.

However, I did find a product that worked fast and as advertised: Ortho Weed-B-Gon MAX Weed Killer for Lawns.

I purchased the "Ready Spray" and you have to like the instructions : "That you simply attach to hose turn on water at the faucet, then turn the knob on the sprayer to activate the flow." Ortho Weed-B-Gon MAX Weed Killer For Lawns has it listed that it "Controls over 250 broadleaf weeds including dandelions, clover, chickweed, oxalis, ground ivy (Creeping Charlie), wild violet and other tough weeds." After receiving quotes and lawn reviews from both Spring Green Lawn Care and Chemlawn, I was pretty sure I had all 250 weeds in my lawn. So hopefully this was the magical concoction I was in need of.

Following directions I connected the hose to the bottle on a fairly calm day and began the weed extermination process. The dandelions were in full bloom so directing the spray at the troubled areas was fairly easy. Heavy weeded areas I concentrated more time on, although I did make sure to cover the entire lawn to prevent further spread of the weeds.

Well from first impressions and the look of my front yard, the Ortho Weed-B-Gon MAX Weed Killer for Lawns was just the ticket. After spraying the yard the evening before there was noticeable results the very next day. Most of the dandelions had curled over at their stems and had taken on a brownish/tan color. Based on conversations with the weed control professionals this was a very good sign that the weeds had been treated properly. Several weeks and mowing later, hardly a dandelion is visible in my half acre yard.

Now the one thing I did notice while using the spray was that you have to be careful of over-spraying any domestic plants and shrubs. The wind picked up slightly towards the end and some of the mist from the spraying landed in my shrubs. Although they are not dead, areas that were hit don't have any new growth like the rest of the shrubs. The spray is also recommended against if you have any newly seeded lawn areas.

As a home owner on a budget, I would have to say that the Ortho Weed-B-Gon MAX Weed Killer for Lawns for around $7.00 a bottle beats the pants off paying $85.00 a treatment (4 treatments recommended) to the professionals.

My love of cooking began early on and expanded (along with my waist) as I grew older. I have a weekly newsletter/recipe that has well over 100 people on the mailing list. Hopefully my good sense of humor...  View profile

I bought "Ortho Max Weed And Tough Brush Killer. I sprayed honeysuckle (Lonicera sp)twice at weekly intervals. The plants haven't shown as much as a slight leaf curl. Are you sure the stuff is not just water?

Well I do have to say that you might want to contact the manufacturer, not the guy who posted a positive review. However with every product you do have different results based on soil, weather, and how many weeds you neighbors have. Call Ortho, I'm sure they might be able help.
