Osama Bin Laden Buried at Sea After Body Cleaned and Wrapped

Osama bin Laden is dead after a small team of U.S. forces launched a raid on a compound where he was holed up with two of his brothers. Bin Laden was basically hiding in plain sight and living in the lap of luxury in a $1million compound in Pakistan, in a well known military town, according to Fox News. Bin Laden was right under the nose of the Pakistan military, which is raising some serious questions about Pakistan and if they had any involvement in hiding the most wanted man for the U.S.

Black Hawks flew into the compound and 24 Navy Seals propelled into the compound. One helicopter went down due to mechanical failure and hit the roof of the compound that Bin Laden was living in. None of the Navy Seals were injured in this crash, or in this raid. All U.S. military that participated in this raid came back unharmed. The Navy Seals were met with much resistance with fire power from the residents of the compound. Bin Laden was given the chance to surrounded and he did not, so he was killed, according to Jennifer Griffin of Fox News.

The Navy Seal team went into the compound and killed Osama bin Laden then did a photo identification on the spot to confirm it was him. Once confirmed with the U.S. military, the Seals took his body with them back on the helicopter. General Thomas Mcinerney, Fox News Analyst said the Navy Seals went in for a flawless night raid and from a military point of view, it could not have gone better.

The U.S. Government has already buried Bin Laden at sea. They respected the Muslim custom of cleaning and wrapping the body, along with the custom to bury the dead within 24 hours. Bin Laden was buried at sea because they do not want any type of special burial ground that would memorialize this man who was responsible for so many deaths on 9/11.

Debra Burlingame whose brother was killed on 9/11 is elated that they finally got Osama bin Laden. She spoke to Fox News in the early morning hours after hearing the news. She had a message for anyone who would complain about the U.S. Navy Seals taking Bin Laden's body with them. She said they need to remember how many bodies just perished in 9/11. She went on to say that so many families lost their loved ones that day with no remains ever found.

The U.S. is celebrating in crowds and at 3 am Monday morning crowds were in Times Square, in front of the White House, and many other locations throughout the U.S.. Geraldo Rivera is with the crowds at 3am in front of the White House. The crowd is ecstatic with chants and singing patriotic songs. This is a morning that many U.S. citizens have taken to the streets to celebrate.

At Ground Zero in New York City, many firefighters, off duty police and other New Yorkers have come out in the early morning hours to celebrate the death of the man.
