Osama Bin Laden Dead

Osama is Dead, Obama Addresses the Nation

Shannon Wilson
News networks and internet sites are aflutter with the news that Osama bin Laden has been killed by US forces. President Obama is expected to address the nation soon. Osama bin Laden was the lead of the al Qaeda terror network. One of al Qaeda's most memorable attacks is 9/11 -- a day that no American will ever forget.ABC World News is reporting that he was killed by a US Air Strike in Pakistan and that the US does have his body in their possession. Finding out that Osama bin Laden is dead -- it's hard for me to explain. I feel some exhilaration also mixed with deep sorrow. I'm not sad he's dead but I am sad at the terrible things that he did during his lifetime that lead to hits to our nation. How do you get to be so evil? In some ways, I want to weep. I want to cry tears of joy that finally -- finally -- his reign of terror has come to end. I have no doubt that someone else will step in to take his place but with Osama's death -- it is a beginning -- The USA will not tolerate terrorist attacks. It is a time to remember all the innocent lives that have been lost due to the deranged leading of Osama bin Laden. I still remember exactly what I was doing on 9/11 and now with the announcement of Osama's death, I'll remember May 1st forever a victory for the United States of America. The news reports are currently saying that while it is being reported that Osama bin Laden IS dead, that there is going to have to be proof for the nation to really believe it by way of DNA testing, pictures, etc. In my heart, I do believe the officials who say that Osama is dead. Osama was the face of evil and now the families of the people who were hurt and killed by decisions he orchestrated, can get some of the closure they desperately needed. I desperately hope that they can get some relief out of this.Security will undoubtedly be heightened in certain areas of the United States (like New York, Washington DC, etc) due to any backlash from the al Qaeda network over bin Laden's death. If you're traveling to a busy area, be sure to keep an eye out and keep yourself safe.Almost ten years have passed since 9/11. Osama has taunted the US with various videos and recordings but now we are the victorious ones. Ã' During the writing of this article, President Obama gave his speech to the nation. He had a strong speech and had a strong presence. While the president was addressing the nation he said that they first got a tip on Osama's location last August. It wasn't a risky tip so with lots of research and planning, they decided to strike months later. For two decades, Osama bin Laden was a leader and symbol of the al Qaeda network and now his reign has come to an end.The president made sure to mention that muslims are not to blame so in other words, treat them how any one should be treated. Osama wasn't just a murderer of Americans. He was a mass murderer of Muslims as well. Some of the key pieces of what he said that stuck with me was that we are all united as one American family, that the American people did not chose this fight, it came to our shores. We know well the cost of war. Obama went on to say to those affected directly by 9/11 that "We have never forgotten your loss nor wavered in our commitment that we do whatever it takes to prevent another attack on our shores." I have to admit that my heart swelled with pride with the president said these words -- "Americans can do whatever we set our minds to. That is the story of our history." And that is the truth; together -- we can do anything. We just need to remember that and work together.Sources: ABC News: http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/osama-bin-laden-killed/story?id=13505703 The Wallstreet Journal: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704569404576297941397558496.html?mod=googlenews_wsj
