"Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather Jr. 29, has elected to challenge Oscar De La Hoya on Cinco de Mayo (May 5th). Mayweather, (37-0 24KOs) is regarded by many as the top pound 4-pound fighter in the world. He has successfully dominated each of his thirty-seven opponents in ten years. In addition to his undefeated streak, Floyd has captured world title gold at four weight classes: (130lb), (135lb), (140lb) and (147lb).

"The Golden Boy" Oscar De La Hoya, 33, seeks to dethrone the number one pound 4 pound Picasso on his established PPV date of Cinco De Mayo. De La Hoya, (38-4 30KOs) is currently the highest grossing fighter in the sport. His pretty boy good looks backed behind his solid fighting abilities has given him an illustrious name. Not to mention, his recently recognized Golden Boy promotions is currently honing a stable of solid fighters.

In May of 2006, After Oscar De La Hoya thoroughly dismantled Ricardo Mayorga inside of six rounds; he captured the WBC 154lb title. The initial idea was that Oscar would face Floyd in a showdown on September 16th 2006. Unfortunately for boxing fans, that fight didn't take place. Mayweather turned down every possible opponent, in essence of saving his appetite for Oscar De La Hoya. When Oscar decided he would take the year off, Floyd moved on.

On November 4th, 2006, Floyd Mayweather challenged Carlos Baldomir for the WBC 147lb welterweight title. Mayweather painted a masterpiece, slicing and dicing Baldomir in 12 embarrassing rounds en route to a unanimous decision. With De La Hoya somewhat of the picture momentarily, Floyd made the shocking decision to end his career with one fight remaining.

Recently, only days after Mayweather's win over Baldomir Oscar De La Hoya offered a proposal to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

"I was so excited about the idea of fighting Oscar I didn't even read the contract, I just signed it right away," Floyd confessed.

The fight will take place at the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday May 5th for the WBC 154lb championship.
