We hear that the Granddaddy of them all as far as bowl games are concerned is The Rose Bowl. For the Hollywood awards, it's the Oscars. Nothing else comes close.

- Final ballots mailed Monday, Feb. 6, 2012
- Nominees Luncheon Saturday, Feb.11, 2012
- Scientific and Technical Awards presentation Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 - Final polls close 5 p.m. PT Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012

The Governors Awards, which were part of the show, now has its own night. Now, in its third year on that solo event, were handed out in November. The two Honorary Award winners were James Earl Jones and Dick Smith. Oprah Winfrey received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.The Student Academy Awards were handed out in June.
Not only that, the Nicholls Screenwriting Awards were also given to writers who have has not sold or optioned a screenplay or teleplay for more than $5,000. The 2011 Nicholl Fellows are (listed alphabetically by author): - Chris Bessounian & Tianna Langham, Los Angeles, Calif., "Guns and Saris" - Dion Cook, Altus, Okla., "Cutter" - John MacInnes, Los Angeles, Calif., "Outside the Wire" - Matthew Murphy, Culver City, Calif., "Unicorn" - Abel Vang & Burlee Vang, Fresno, Calif., "The Tiger's Child" The winners were selected from a record 6,730 scripts which were.
The Student Academy Awards is an annual competition for college and university filmmakers. Winners - selected by the professional filmmaker members of the Academy - receive trophies and cash prizes.
