Sandra Bullock has chosen to make her home in New Orleans which is in the midst of a remembrance of Katrina this week on the fifth anniversary of that devastation. Sandra and other New Orleans notables were on deck to cut the ribbon on a high school health clinic at Warren Easton Charter High School which she has helped to rebuild, and which will now provide emergency care as well as flu shots to the students there. The school is set to reopen in the Fall. Alexina Medley, Easton's principal remarked "Without her, we would not have returned as soon as we did. She's come to our rescue several times."

Sandra has donated money to the school for renovations, scholarships and supplies which include band uniforms. Easton is the oldest public high school in New Orleans and will now have a $700,000 medical and dental clinic provided by Sandra Bullock along with grants from The Kellogg Foundation and The San Francisco 49ers Foundation.

In an interview with Matt Lauer on NBC's Today Show on August 31, 2010, Sandra talked about her seven-month-old adopted son, Louis Bardo Bullock, who is from New Orleans. She refers to Louis as her little Cajun Cookie. The interview took place at Warren Easton Charter High School. Sandra and Jesse James, from whom she is now divorced, initiated the adoption process four years ago, and received Louis in January. She claims that she didn't want to use her celebrity status to speed up the adoption process. After the divorce, Sandra continued with the adoption as a single parent. She maintains that close relatives and friends with integrity had helped her to continue on with her plan without sparking media attention.

Sandra's breakthrough movie came in 1994. She was cast alongside of Keanu Reeves in Speed, one of the most successful action films ever made. Her Oscar-winning role in The Blind Side came in 2009 - a true story of a couple who took in a homeless teenage African-American. It is reported that Tom Hanks wants Sandra for his upcoming project, a movie based on the 2005 novel by Jonathan Safran Foer, called Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

Sandra is named in Forbes Magazine as the highest-paid actress in Hollywood, beating out Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston for the 2010 year.
