Spring Prosperity Spell

Because it is the waxing part of the year, at a time when fertile energies abound, the Spring Equinox is a prime time to cast prosperity spells. There's no coincidence that prosperity is related to the fertility of the earth, considering how dependent upon the land our ancestors were for their very survival. Just as they were dependent on a bounteous harvest or thriving herd for their livelihood, so are we dependent on the growth of our businesses, salary and investments.

Gather a coin with the year of your birth on it (preferably silver), a small or medium sized flower pot, growing medium, mint seeds, spring water or rain water, a piece of paper, a green marker, a green candle, and pachouli oil.

Cast your spell on Ostara, or during the new moon near Ostara. If you have a traditional ritual opening or structure, or cleansing and consecration of items, feel free to begin that way. If not, simply sit and meditate for a while to balance and center yourself.

Take the green candle and anoint it with pachouli oil. Start from the tip of the wick, and rub the oil down to the base of the candle. As you anoint the candle, envision money coming into your life.

Set the candle in a candle holder. To raise energy- fantasize. Engage in creative visualization, imagining your savings account or investments growing, or your salary being raised, or more work coming your way, or your home business taking off. Visualize every detail in your mind, as if watching a movie of yourself with this happening. Try to feel like you would feel if you had a bigger income. Imagine the peace of mind you would feel when your bills and debts are paid, when your nest egg grows enough to feel secure or buy things that you have been needing or wanting. Hold this visualization for as long as you can.

When you can't hold it any longer, light the candle. Know that the energy you have built up in your fantasy is being released.

Take a small sheet of paper or parchment and write your name on it with green ink. Place the coin in the center of the paper. Fold up the paper with the coin inside of it and seal it with some wax from the candle.

Place the flower pot before you. Put in some growing medium to cover the bottom (any good potting soil you can find). Place the small wrapped up piece of paper with the coin in it in the pot. Add more growing medium to the top. Plant the mint seeds in the soil. Sprinkle some spring water on them as an offering to your deities, or to the Earth.

End your ritual in whatever way you normally do, or by relaxing and clearing your mind.

Keep your pot on a sunny porch, windowsill, or in the yard. Nurture your plant to grow and thrive, and as you do, so will your prosperity grow and thrive.

When the mint leaves grow, make a tea with them to drink, or pour the tea into your bath. Place leaves from the plant in your wallet or purse, wherever you stash your cash, or in envelopes with your financial papers.

To break the spell, clip the leaves and return them to the Earth. Break open the wax seal, burn the paper and bury the coin.

Equinox Ritual of Balance

When our energies are out of balance, it can lead to health problems, difficulty in coping with life, mood swings and general discord. The Equinox is the point in the year at which day and night hang in perfect balance, so it is a prime time to bring balance to yourself.

Before this spell, you should do some mundane work. Clean your home, or at least your space, as best you can. Get things in order and get rid of dust. Burn some sage or other incense to rid the area of negativity. Before the spell, take a cleansing bath with sea salt and meditate.

For this spell, you will need a moonstone and a sunstone. If you cannot find one, or either, you can use clear quartz crystals in their place. You will also need six candles: green, yellow, red, blue, white, and a small service candle of any color (for lighting the other candle's with).

Set the moonstone (or quartz) in the light of the moon on the night of the equinox, from dusk till dawn. Set the sunstone (or quartz) in the light of the sun on the day of the equinox, from dawn till dusk. If you're using two quartz crystals, don't mix them up. Put a small sticker or mark on one of them to distinguish the two.

The spell can be performed indoors or outdoors, as long as it is in a peaceful place you will not be disturbed. At sunrise or sunset, place your green candle in the North, your yellow candle in the East, your red candle in the South, and your blue candle in the West. Place your white candle, service candle, lighter, and stones in the middle of the space where you will sit.

You may begin with your normal ritual opening, or just sit and meditate for a little while. When you are ready, light the service candle. Move to the green candle, and call:

Element of Earth,
Nurture me!
Lend me your stability
So that I may find peace and harmony.

Light the candle. Move to the yellow candle, and call:

Element of Air,
Teach me!
Lend me your wisdom,
So that I may find peace and harmony.

Light the candle. Move to the red candle, and call:

Element of Fire,
Purify me!
Lend me your energy,
So that I may find peace and harmony.

Light the candle. Move to the blue candle, and call:

Element of Water,
Cleanse me!
Lend me your intuition,
So that I may find peace and harmony.

Light the candle. Move to the white candle, and call:

Element of Spirit,
Fill me!
Lend me your balance
So that I may find peace and harmony.

You may extinguish the service candle at this point, or just set it aside in a safe holder.

Sit before the white candle. Take the sunstone in your projective hand (your dominant hand, usually the hand you write with). Take the moonstone in your receptive hand. Meditate for a while. Just clear your mind and open yourself the energies of the elements and the sun and moon working through you, merging with your own energy, balancing it out.

When the spell is done, extinguish the candles, thanking the elements. Keep the stones in your pocket, or somewhere you can use them for meditation when necessary.

Equinox Cleansing Ritual

Spring cleaning has long been a tradition. After being cooped up for the winter, with dust piling up with windows shut and all the heaviness dragging us down, it's time for a cleansing. After physically cleaning your space, perform this spell to spiritually cleanse it.

Before the equinox, collect some spring rain water in a bowl. If you could not collect much, add it to a pitcher filled with spring water. Gather a branch of fresh rosemary, sea salt, a feather, a red candle, and sage incense.

Go into the room you would like to purify, or you can do it to the whole house if you like. Open all the windows and doors that you can keep open for a while.

Open your ritual as you normally do, except you should not cast a circle if it would inhibit you from moving around your home freely. If you prefer, start by meditating and centering yourself.

Light the red candle, and light the incense on the red candle. Pick up the fan, and walk through the space fanning the incense smoke into every nook and cranny. Be very careful when walking with incense not to burn yourself or drop it.

Sprinkle three pinches of sea salt in the water. Stir it with the branch of rosemary. Take the water and branch, and walk through the space, flicking the wet branch to sprinkle water all over the area.

If you have any specific items you would like to cleanse, such as crystals or ritual tools or jewelry, you can pass them through the incense smoke or sprinkle them with the water.

Sit and meditate, noticing how the room feels lighter and airier now.
