Oster Beehive Blender #4242: Product Review

An Attractive, Affordable, Durable Blender with Many Fantastic Features

Amy Solovay
This is a product review of the Oster Beehive Blender #4242. I bought this blender at target.com; the price I paid was $59.99.

Features:

There were two reasons I chose this blender over all the others I looked at.

I wanted a blender that was not made of plastic, and this one is made of glass, metal and chrome. I was shopping for a new blender because the plastic on my old blender was cracked and worn. I wanted its replacement to be higher quality. The Oster Beehive blender features an all-metal drive system, which I thought would provide durability and longevity. The glass jar on this blender is scratch-resistant.

I also love the way this blender looks. The design is attractive and timeless; it will not be outdated anytime soon.

Those were the two reasons I chose to purchase this particular blender, but there are lots of other features that make this blender a good choice.

The Oster Beehive blender has 600 watts of power. It easily crushes and blends ice, so it is ideal for people who like to make cold blended drinks.

The cup has measurements marked on the side, so it is easy to measure ingredients when you are preparing to blend.

This blender is also really easy to clean. The glass jar is dishwasher-safe. Both the jar and the base can easily be scrubbed clean with a sponge or scouring pad.

The blender comes boxed, and the box gives details about the blender's features. The text on the box is written in both English and Spanish. Here are some quotes from the English side of the box:

"Extra durability from exclusive all-metal drive system and powerful 600 watt motor"

"Pulverize Ice for smooth frozen drinks with high performance ice crusher blade"

"Precise blending with pulse feature"

"Full range of power to create everything from milkshakes to smoothies to salsa"

Cons:

I've used this blender frequently, and have been completely satisfied with it, but I should mention that there are a couple of things about this blender that could be improved upon.

This blender is loud. I've never owned a blender that isn't loud, but this particular blender is louder than most others I've ever used. I am willing to put up with the noise, because I like everything else about the blender. I mention the noise because you might feel differently, depending on your needs and situation. If you make smoothies for breakfast every morning but your roommate sleeps in, this blender is definitely not a good choice for you.

The other thing I don't like about this blender is that the jar is smaller than the one I used to have. The jar on this particular Oster Beehive blender holds 5 cups. If you are making drinks for a huge crowd, you will probably want to find a blender with a larger capacity. This one is great for making drinks for one or two people at a time.

Conclusion:

Overall, I am satisfied with this blender and am very happy to recommend it to others. I think it is a good value for the money, and was well worth the price I paid for it.
