Grooming your pet at home can save a lot of money in the long run. Investing in a good pair of clippers will ensure that they last a long time and that your pet always looks his best. Oster Turbo 2-Speed Professional Animal Clipper is a good option for a trimmer to use at home. It can be purchased for about $140 at amazon.com

One of the problems I had with my last set of clippers was that the handle got really hot while I was using them. The motor in this set was designed to run cooler so that would not be a problem anymore. This was one of the main reasons I decided to buy them and they were advertised correctly because I no longer have to worry about my clippers getting hot in my hand.

The clippers run at over 4,000 strokes per minute so I can get an even trim on my dog even when I am going quickly. My dog has coarse hair and I have been impressed by the ease with which it cuts through. The clipper end is also about a half inch wider than my old ones so more hair is trimmed in each swipe. Anything that can speed the process along is a benefit to me because my dog does not like standing still while he is being trimmed.

The motor is fairly quiet which helps ease my dog's fear of the clippers. Sometimes I turn them on and just pet him to get him comfortable with the sound. There are two speeds so you can turn the clipper down to 3,000 strokes per minute which also lessons the sound of the motor a little.

The blade changes quickly and easily so it is not a problem to replace it when it gets dull or to use a different one if you have many pets with different kinds of fur. The blade that comes with the clipper is made with AgIOn antimicrobial coating which is meant to reduce the growth of bacteria and mildew.

Overall, I am pleased with the quality of these clippers. I like being able to trim my dog myself and believe that they will pay for themselves rather than having to take him to the groomer twice a year. The clippers have proven to last well and the blades can be sharpened to get even more life out of them.
