Othello

GMJ
RODERIGO, A RICH MAN , yet a poor desperate fellow,
Paid Iago to help him court Desdemona who married Othello.

Scorned as he can be,
That Desdemona would marry Othello and not he.

He is an ensign passed over for promotion by General Othello;
Othello promoted his friend Cassio--a less experienced fellow

Curses!

For Desdemona his heart yearns;
For Cassio his stomach turns;
And for Othello--his hatred burns!

Iago and Roderigo tell Brabanzio that his daughter Desdemona hath been stolen by the Moor;
Brabonzio decides to seek out Othello since he discovers his daughter is missing for sure.

Cassio arrives at Othello's lodgings with an important message on such occasion;
The duke doth need Othello's help to thwart an imminent Turkish invasion.

Brabonzio then arrives making accusations that are wild;
Accusing Othello of stealing his child.
When he learns that Othello is on his way to see the duke,
He tags along, and before the senate, 'tis Othello he shall rebuke.

'Tis to Othello they all sympathize
As romantic love defeats family ties;
Brabanzio's plan backfires and goeth down in flames
As two lovers defend against his fraudulent claims.

The duke sends Othello to Cyprus;
Against the Turks he must defend;
Desdemona insists on going with him
As his companion, lover and friend.

On a ship to Cyprus she is sent ahead of Othello;
She meets Cassio, Roderigo and Iago there;
Cassio greets her by taking her hand;
Now poor Cassio, Iago shall ensnare.

Iago devises a dastardly plan
And spins his webs as much as he can
To convince Othello that another man
Is sleeping with his wife;
For Roderigo's benefit he creates such strife!

Will Cassio be stripped of his lieutenant rank?
If so, he will have Iago to thank;
Will Iago's plan drive Othello mad?
Or will Othello realize that he hath been had?

Violence doth follow with much swordplay
As lies and deceit hide the truth away;
Will passions rule?
Will the truth be revealed?
Who will play the fool?
My lips are sealed.

Thy curiosity, the final scenes shall satisfy
When thou givest this play Othello a try.
