The lamp clips securely to my drafting table, and is easily adjustable. The gooseneck allows me to make small adjustments, and the shade rotates to direct the light where I want it. It is also very light weight, and the weight of the bulb doesn't pull the lamp down.
The light quality is excellent. It is very similar to natural sunlight, and doesn't cast everything in a yellow light. This helps me know while I'm painting that the finished product will look the same on display as it did on my drafting table. While I have found that the light does allow me to paint with consistent colors, it is not as bright as I would like. I still had to bring in extra lighting to be able to use it without straining my eyes. It is also not particularly attractive, and stands out in my room's décor. They have several models that are more classical and attractive, which come in a floor lamp as well as table top. These come in different metallic finishes, but this wasn't available in the store where I bought mine.
The lamp does not get hot like many clip on lamps I've had. They advertise that the 13 watt bulb, which comes with the clip on lamp, lasts up to 10,000 hours.
The OTT Lites were suggested to me by my grandmother, who uses hers for reading, saying that it's easier on her eyes than the typical yellow light bulbs.
These lamps can be expensive, but are worth it if you can find them on sale. I purchased mine from Hobby Lobby, who keeps several different models of OTT Lites in stock. You can either wait for a sale, or take in the 40% off coupons they offer online every few weeks.
In general, I would definitely suggest the OTT Lite as a good source of true color lighting.
