Our Beautiful World

April L. Tragesser
She is rich with colors, vibrant and alive
A survivor in our lonely corner.
Through the eons she has survived
Through disasters, she has maintained order.
Constantly rejuvinating, cleansing and creating
She is our nurturing mother.
This is our home, there is no debating...
In our vast neighborhood, there is no other.
She has seen her children come and go.
Like millions of grains of sand,
They have blown away, through dust and snow
And led way to the age of man.
Unlike her children that came before
We understand her well.
Why do we treat her so very poor,
When the damage done can tell?
She will live on regardless
Of how we treat her, kind or ill.
For it is not she that will suffer in the end....
It is ourselves that we will kill.
This beautiful ball that floats alone
Through darkness, being hurled.
Through time and end, dust and bone,
She is our beautiful world.
