Watching them do things we could not
Our legacy is handed down
And we hope we will not be forgot
When the day comes for them to go
With sadness and hope we say goodbye
Watching them move on to see
New beginnings, sometimes we cry
We cry with their defeats
Rejoice with their victories won
Their time with us is oh so short!
But their life now has just begun!
So now I know how my own parents felt
When I left the home with them I had come to know
What they did not know
Is how much their love had helped me grow
And so I hope
It is with similar thoughts
My children will also think of me
When the times comes to see them go
to go and become all that they can be!

Post a CommentLovely sentiments.
Stunning. I know I read this before. I guess I just didn't comment for some reason. Anyway, I love it.
I think your strength of faith and character will live on, long after you are gone Janet. Your children are most blessed to have such a godly mother of faith and wisdom, :-)
It's really nice when you can watch your children become parents and repeat the cycle!
Nice sentiment to wish them on their way.
We may have to let go of their hands, but we will always hold our kids in our hearts. Very nicely done.
Nice job Janet!
They may travel far, but you'll never really let them go.
I know what you mean...sigh :)
I love watching my girls bloom into beautiful and complex flowers... the pleasure of being a mother never ends.
