Our Earth Mother

A sleeping maiden clothed in white
Her fertile curves concealed
Awaits her fickle loves return
To roust her from her dreams

His caress is felt upon her brow
He warms her face with dawn
And from the pleasure of his touch
Our tender world is born

Alive she grows with life once more
Each tree, each shrub, each seed
From cold and grey to vibrant green
Her love of him is seen

Her many limbs grow strong and tall
Her leafy hair unfurls
The beauty of her blushing blooms
Out shines his golden world

By bird and bee her nectars pass
Of fruit and flesh and grain
She gives to us with a mother's love
It's time we do the same

Honor our Planetary Mother
Cherrish the bounty of her gifts
Enjoy her beauty with respect
and nurture Her as She has long nurtured us

Happy Earth Day!
