Our Favorite Mother-daughter Team is Saying Goodbye

Is 2 More Shows Enough Time to Tie Up the Loose Ends on Gilmore Girls?

Ariana R. Cherry-Shearer
Every Tuesday night, women across the nation, tuned in for an all girl's hour with the Rori, (Alexis Biel), and Lorelai Gilmore, (Lauren Graham), on the warm hearted comedy/drama "Gilmore Girls." This show first aired on October 5th, 2000. For the past seven years we have gotten to laugh, cry, shout, and experience the lives of the Gilmore girls.

Through the eyes of Lorelai, we got to see the push and shove from her high-class society parents Richard and Emily Gilmore. Somewhere along the lines, Lorelai just wasn't the poster daughter that they have hoped for. Lorelai had gotten pregnant at 16 and didn't finish school right away, which was a disappointment for the rich socialites. Through the years, although, Lorelai has gotten their approval as she has grown up by starting her own inn and has raised a very witty, smart, and charming daughter.

All of us swooned at Rori's first boyfriend Dean, Jared Padalecki, and watched her fall in love as she dated this fine looking guy. We were also there through her heartache and confusion, when Rori began falling for bad boy Jess who was Luke (Lorelai's lifetime crush), nephew. Somehow Rori brought the bad out of Jess, and she got to see his inner side. Everybody of course was afraid for Rori, and what influence he may have over there, but then her mother Lorelai realized that Rori was a smart girl, and she of course was nice enough to give everybody a chance.

And then came the day when Dean announced to Rori he was getting married, and again our hearts were broken. Rori had finally lost her chance with Dean, but she finally began moving on as she graduated from the private school, Chilton Academy, that her grandparents had paid for which kept her and mother captive every Friday night for dinner. Soon after, Rori began attending college, and becoming a success with her college newspaper.

Through the years, we have seen Rori turn into a beautiful young women breaking hearts of the guys who came through her way. Rori might have turned a few rough rebellious turns for a little while as she finally had "the big fight" with her mother and moved in with her grandparents. Soon, Rori became their new project as they tried their best to fit her into their high class world. During this time, she began falling in love with her new Beau Logan whom she met in school. He gave her challenges, made her think, and also made her push to believe in her dream as a journalist. Logan also came from an upper class background with a father whom also tried to rull his world as well. Logan finally broke free and began living more of his own business life. It seemed that after Dean , and then again Jess, that Rori would never fall in love quite the same again, but Logan changed all of this for Rori. Sure there were some setbacks where Logan had cheated on her , but that was in a so called "taking a break" stage. Rori forgave him with some fight, and their relationship has seemed to be stronger than ever.

As Lorelai continues with her success in Dragonfly Inn, and still conqueors the everlasting drama of Luke with their on again and off again relationship, somewhere down the line, we hope that these two will finally be together once and for all. The two had their chance once, but stumbled when Lorelai married her ex-husband again, but soon realized it was still impossible for the two to be together. She also battled the everyday stress of Stars Hollow and all of the wonderful inhabitants who romed about this town to cause every day ruckus.

As all of this drama comes to an end, and hopefully all the loose ends are tied up, as our favorite girl comedy comes to an end. Tears will fall, and we will all need a Kleenex when the curtains fall for the final last time. Our questions that are up in the air right now is what will Rori say when Logan proposes to her? Will Lorelai finally look into her heart and end up with Luke, her guy pal that she's been crushing on for the past 7 years of the show's airing? Will Luke finally go on that special boat ride with his newfound daughter, April? All of us Gilmore Girl fans are just waiting with anticipation, but the end will come too soon as well. The last show will air Tuesday, May 15th. Check out to see Rori's answer to Logan's proposal Tuesday night, May 8th. Hopefully these final two shows will be enough time for everything in the show to come together, and of course give all of the women across the nation to say goodbye to our favorite friends and pals. May reruns be enough comfort as the comfort they have given us for the past seven years.

Bring a box of tissues for the final show, as we wave goodbye to our favorite mother-daughter team. And we can promise it won't be the last time that we see the last of these 2 magnificent female actresses. -And you can bet all of us will be out buying the season DVD's. The Gilmore Girls all have given us something to laugh about and look at life just a little bit differently-no matter what drama is going on in our lives.
