For over twenty years
we've worked the soil,
turned it over
day by day
to see what
we could grow.
we've worked the soil,
turned it over
day by day
to see what
we could grow.
We've had our share
of weeds,
but many flowers too,
and good sweet things
that ripen in the sun.
Sometimes we are
surprised to find
we've grown
what we cannot
remember sowing.
Sometimes crops
are crushed,
dried up,
or winter comes too early.
And sometimes
precious plants
are plucked,
transplanted,
but still loved.
I am grateful
for each day
we're gardening
together.
And I can't wait to see
what sprouts
we'll find
tomorrow.
