1. What do you have? What's in your hand? Jesus asked the disciples that when He fed the multitudes with a few loaves and fish. Put what you have in God's hands, commit it to the Lord. This is where sowing and harvest principles come into play. What you have in your hand is your seed. Work with what you've got. Even with nothing in either hand, your hands are filled with power to praise Him and to pray, so use them to do so.
2. Gratitude/praise puts the Holy Spirit into motion because God inhabits praise. When God comes on the scene, miracles happen.
3. What do you see? The way you look at it is exactly the way you'll see it. The way you see yourself and your circumstance makes a difference. Opposites may attract, but like begets like. You can't plant pear tree and expect to get apples. Negative, doubt and fear based thinking and attitudes blind us to possibility and opportunity. Positive and "able" thinking brings into view all kinds of possibilities and opportunities, and the tools, means, and ways by which we can obtain and achieve our needs and goals.
I'm convinced that God surrounds us with miracles every day. We fail to see them because of our negative, doubt and fear based and limited thinking. He is the creator and Master of the Universe. He owns it all, and His son Jesus said that whatever's His is also mine. Yes, it's hard to believe that in today's economy. But, then again, perhaps this is our opportunity to simplify our lives, to get back to the basics, and to remind ourselves of all those things that we can live without. Perhaps this is our opportunity to readjust our perceptions about necessity and simplicity, and a whole lot of other things. God said, "I know the thoughts I have toward you." His plan is to bless us. It always has been and always will be. Today's message bids us to be quick to empty our "vessels." It implies not hoarding or being afraid to give, to share. There is much to be said about good stewardship also, and Jesus addressed that with the tale of the talents. But, we must also empty our hearts quickly of negative, fear and doubt based thoughts and attitudes.
