WCIA covered stories about Rockome Gardens, Dick's Pharmacy, Miller Goods the Old Heidelberg, the sewing store and even a special story about a young boy diagnosed with cancer. The small town of Arthur came together to make the news crew feel at home offering them friendly hometown charm, a taste of an old fashioned soda and plenty of polite conversations.
Arthur blocked off Vine Street for WCIA so that they could report the 5:00 and 6:00 news from downtown. Many of Arthur's residents gathered to take part in the fun event and to see WCIA channel 3 news live in action! The community also donated free hot dogs to those who came to watch as well as beverages.
Sunny Bear, the WCIA weather mascot, was also present for photo opps, and nearby residents and children got a chance to "report the weather." These little weather recordings will be playing on WCIA channel 3 all summer long. For any who participated, they may get a chance to see themselves on television this summer!
At the end of the 6:00pm news, there was a prize drawing for a basket that was filled with items from area businesses and a trip too! Residents of Arthur, IL enjoyed the visit from WCIA and some even got a few seconds of fame by getting a chance to be on television. WCIA felt welcomed by the city of Arthur and reported that the small rural town made them feel like a part of their community for the day.
