As parents prepare their kids to go back to school, off to college or to the stressful environment of the first job or a new job, drugs and its abuse can become an essential factor in their lives. Here, some information will be presented to assist in recognizing the above so the affected persons and others directly related to him/her can deal with the problem successfully.
We are told that some of the symptoms of drug abuse include: For Marijuana - red eyes, reduced concentration, drowsiness, talkativeness, laughter, hunger, euphoria, unusual relaxation, disoriented behavior, and dramatic change in lifestyles...For Alcohol - intoxication, watery glazed eyes, mood swings, slurred speech, unsteady walk, and loss of appetite...For Cocaine - bright staring shiny eyes, excitation, euphoria, high pulse, higher blood pressure, restlessness, insomnia, appetite loss, dramatic mood change and runny nose...For Depressants - Constricted pupils, slow breathing and slurred speech...For Methamphetamine - dilated pupils, bright shiny eyes, excitation, alertness, talkative, increased pulse rate and blood pressure, anxiety, insomnia, appetite loss, confusion, paranoia and sweating. Now these are not exclusive but only some of the main symptoms parents, guardians and neighbors can pay attention to so they will be able to identify when something is wrong and help their kids and families.
For parents in particular, there is some information available that will help in recognizing when something is not quite right with your teen or youngster. Some of the interesting and known signs of substance abuse in kids or teens include: drop in grades, consistent school suspension or detention, loss of interest in activities, truancy, moods swings, dishonesty about whereabouts, secretive behavior, parental defiance, the keeping of and socializing with delinquent friends, among others. Good parenting is never easy, but can be done with some careful attention to details and kids behavior. The above information within this context will help.
But there are other serious things to pay attention to if parents and guardians desire to know more about what their kids are doing in their lives. These include: notable changes in children sleep patterns and staying up all night, taking or simple stealing money and valuables, excessive bank withdrawals (especially by teens who received their owned but monitored bank accounts) frequent traffic violations, the recurrent development of other legal problems, unusual changes in personal appearance such as poor hygiene, defensiveness about drugs use, uncaring attitude, explosive anger and others. Some of these may be related to teenage years and the normal changes in the teen, but in all cases. So parents will need to identify the difference in order to know when to do something about correcting the problem.
It is important to know that those who are often responsible for kids, teens and young adults drug abuse do not concern themselves with the consequences of the illegal abuse. Hence, a consistent and serious approach to effectively dealing with drug abuse is a must. Denial of the realities will only help the person who is responsible for the problem or the profit-seeking drug dealer. Empowerment of advanced knowledge about different types of drugs and how they will adversely affect the people directly related to those affected is more effective. Schools, parents, communities, cities, state, federal agencies and non-profit organizations like clubs and churches will all need to work in collaborative harmony to deal with a serious problem like drug abuse. The problem will not go away or be solved on its own. Time, effort, discipline, a caring heart and lots of real people support are all important in dealing effectively with this issue in the lives of those affected.
So we know drug abuse is never a good thing for anyone to get involved with. Unfortunately, it is a reality that some kids, teens and young adults, in particular, will end-up abusing drugs courtesy of the drug dealers or n irresponsible friend or neighbor. There are sings or symptoms to look-out for and there are correctly ways to solve the problem. Above all, those who are directly and indirectly affected must face the unpleasant realities of the situation if they desire to deal effective and efficiently with the problem before it gets worse for those affected.
END.
