Our King

A Good Friday Meditation

Mike Powers
Hanging
Upon a tree
Between Heaven and Earth -
A crown of thorns adorns his head...
Our King.

His hands
And feet nailed fast
To the wood; His side pierced;
There at a place called Golgotha...
Our King.

Between
Two thieves he hangs
Naked; his robe a prize;
Above his bloody head, a sign:
"Our King."

They scoff:
"He trusts in God,
Let God deliver him!
Come down from that cross if you are
Our King!"

"Father,
Please forgive them
They know not what they do..."
"It is finished..." and so He dies...
Our King.

    Absolutely beautiful. I wonder how many folks who don't belong to liturgical faiths realize that we're still early in the Easter season.

    And so now He is Alive - Our King!! The atoning power is in the blood that He shed for us that day. What a blessing for those of us who believe! rcj
