Our Way to Camiguin Island

Tips in Going to Camiguin

Beauty aka Mathbg
Each year, Camiguin Island is visited by several tourists specially on the month of October. This year, with my high school batchmates, we decided to witness the festival. They have the so called "Lanzones Festival" every October. Let me tell you how we get to our destination.

From the city of golden friendship, Cagayan de Oro City, we took a bus at Agora Terminal. We choose the air conditioned bus since it is faster and convenient. These buses have 4 stops only. So it means it does not make you dizzy than other buses. It costs us one hundred thirty pesos only or P130.00 as our fare. We paid for Cagayan to Balingoan.

Here comes Balingoan, a locality opposite to Camiguin Island. We decided to ride a "tricycle", quoted since it is a different type of transportation very common in that locality. We were charged seven pesos each or P7.00 from the bus terminal to the port area.

We went to the port area to ride a ferry boat to bring us to the island. At the port area, there are three (3) ferry boat operating. They take turns in bringing the passengers. It costs one hundred thirty-five pesos or P135.00 each to ride the ferry. Also before entering the port, we needed to pay the terminal fee too.

Before going inside the ferry boat, we had the chance to take a post for pictorials. We even take turns with our solo pictures. I have uploaded some pictures in one of my blogs.

Inside the ferry boat, we enjoyed the breezy air. We made some exciting discussions as part of our excitements. It is inevitable not to admire the great sea we are crossing. How lovely the water and underneath. We also have the chance to take pictures inside the ferry boat. Sadly, the one who took the picture do not know well how to operate the camera, our posts were not captured. Funny I should say.

After about forty-five minutes (45 minutes), inside the ferry, we heard the signal that we arrived Benoni. Benoni is a place where the port in Camiguin is located. Benoni is part of Mahinog. From there, we can deal with the motorcycle drives for a ride to round Camiguin. For some, you can pay for two hundred pesos or P200.00 the whole day aside from the fuel. It is good for two persons if its a single motorcycle. Since we there are four of us, we hired two.

If you think its no good to take a tour upon arrival in Benoni, try take a jeepney for about thirty pesos or P30.00 to Mambajao. It will take you twenty to thirty or 20-30 minutes to the Capital City of the Island. In Mambajao, you will have the chance to look for a lodge or you may find a resort at Yumbing.

Our vacation at Camiguin was great. I just love the water and the Island. It is a stress-free Island. Very ideal for workaholics to relax and unwine.
