Our New Year's Eve Movie Event

My New Year's Eve movie event will only be for our family; just me, my husband, and the kids. Our New Year's Eve movie marathon keeps us safe and warm in the comfort of our home. This also gives us the ability to have some much needed family time watching various new movies we have never seen and old movies that we love.

First, we set the rules. There are no cell phones, computers, or video games allowed at our New Year's Eve movie party. There will be no locking ourselves in our rooms. No fighting, bickering, arguing or bitching is allowed.

Then we picked the menu. Since our New Year's Eve movie night is starting after dinner we figured we would eat early. We chose a variety of snacks to keep us full through the evening. Popcorn with butter, chips and dip, pretzels, and cheese puffs were the chosen snacks for the event. Then during movie intermissions we would have cheese sticks, homemade pepperoni rolls and jalapeno poppers.

Next we each chose a board game we could play between the movies while I was making snacks. It couldn't be something too hard since I would be running back and forth to the kitchen. We chose scrabble, clue, and jenga. We also decided to allow for short game play on the Wii to get everyone up and moving around during our New Year's Eve movie night.

Finally, the most important part of New Year's Eve movie night, the movies. We each chose one movie and then decided if we wanted to watch more we would flip for whom got to chose next. Of course I picked "Four Christmases". We have had the movie since last Christmas and never watched it. My husband chose "Shooter" it is his favorite movie so I didn't expect anything different. My youngest son chose "Iron Man" another movie we have seen a million and one times but hey it could have been Sponge Bob. And lastly, my oldest son chose "Saw VI" since he likes the blood and gore.

There is only a few days left before our New Year's Eve movie night event. Just enough time to make sure we have everything we need.
