Our Youth of Today

Too Many of Today's Youth Are Involved in Gangs

KB
Today, kids lack responsibility and respect for their teachers and parents. Parents need to be more vigilant in teaching their kids manners instead of relying on the school system to do it for them. As I sat in a college class listening to students disrespect their teachers it enraged me. I am a true believer that the schools should put back corporal punishment in their classrooms. Too many teachers today are afraid of their own students to even say anything to them because of the guns and knives that are being brought into the schools.

Growing up between the '70s and '80s was a peaceful time in the schools in Texas. We didn't have to worry about gangbangers, drive by shootings or guns and knives being brought to school and teachers weren't afraid to speak about religion in the classrooms. Ten years later and the gangbangers and drive by shootings and guns and knives being brought to the classrooms were here to stay. It was a sad day when all you heard in the news was about children being shot and killed.

As the year 2000 rolled around, i would have hoped that a new generation of children would have brought back peace, but it just seems to have gotten worse. I believe that if they would bring back religion in the classrooms that it would give the kids something to join together on instead of looking as gangs as family. God wants peace not violence. My husband and i recently joined a new church, they believe in family and its a small church so everyone thinks of each other as family. We pray for each other,we care about what is happening in this world.

Talk to your kids today, tell them you love them. So many parents don't. Ask them to go to church with you. You will be amazed at the respect a child will learn for others just by going to church. As a family it will bring you closer.
