Ouran High School Host Club: Kiss Kiss Fall in LOVE!

Alice Santos
Haruhi Fujioka is a new student at Ouran Academy. Ouran high school is a prestigious academy that favors itself for two things, wealth and high class. Haruhi doesn't have any of that. The only reason she's in Ouran is because she loves to study and for that she got a scholarship. One day she searches for a place to study in her new school but to no avail since even though the school has four libraries they are all filled with rich noisy kids who don't like to study. She heads to the abandon music room assuming there is no one inside; she walks in to find a wonderfully decorated room. Inside, flower petals seem to fly out of nowhere and Haruhi is greeted by six very handsome men. Haruhi is shock to find out that she stumbled in the Host Club and not only that, the entire host club think she's a guy. She tries to escape but ends up breaking a vase that cost about 8 million yen. She doesn't have any money obviously so to make up for the incident, Haruhi must become a host at the Host Club. A host job is to entertain girls and make them feel special. Still unaware of Haruhi's actual gender, Haruhi dresses in a male uniform and entertains the girls who visit the club. One by one all the members of the Host Club find out Haruhi is really a girl. After her true gender is revealed, the men's reaction towards her changes especially the leader of the group who dubs himself as "The Prince Type" and thus begins Haruhi's interesting high school life in Ouran Academy.

This is one of my favorite anime's of all time. Why? Because of the unique story plot. Too many times I had to watch Robots, Loud Mouth Girls and the Perverted Guy surrounded by Mindless Girls who wear almost NOTHING. Haruhi as a character is unique, unlike other anime girls she isn't ditzy, she's independent and isn't annoying at all.

The series starts out with a lot of slapstick humor and CRACK. There is one episode where Haruhi is Alice, Wonderland is the high school and the other host club members are characters in the story such as "The Chestier Cat" "Mad Hatter" "Dorm Mouse" etc. Later on in the series you learn about the characters of the host club in depth. I was very surprised about the twins, Hikaru and Kaoru's story. They didn't like other people because nobody could ever tell them apart and were always treated as if they were only one person. When they were younger they were very desperate in trying to find someone to tell them apart but everybody just let them down. You wouldn't know that they feel so depressed because they are the class clown or "Little Devil Type" and only show feeling to each other. Those two became the annoying ones to one of my favorite characters in about ten episodes.

I highly recommend this show for girls since it's the shojo(girl) genre but I'm sure even guys would find the humor in this interesting too.

I heard about this anime many times, but I just didn't want to watch another shoujo high school anime. Thanks for the heads up.
