Is someone in your family suicidal? Or maybe you know a neighbor or friend that's suicidal. Do you know how to respond and reach out to them? The Ouray County Public Health Agency is having a free Suicide Prevention Training class that's open to the public to help train individuals for suicide prevention.

During this training session, you'll learn how to speak to someone who is suicidal; get referral information; and learn how to persuade someone to reach out for counseling and medical help.

Suicide can happen for many reasons such as unemployment, day-to-day stress, being a caretaker, being bipolar, or depression. These are just some of the reasons that someone you know may be thinking about suicide and all of these reasons can be resolved. If there's someone in your circle of friends and family that you're concerned about, this Suicide Prevention Training course should help you out.

This sounds great Sandy. I think it is something that should be offered in every state more often to help others.

Actually Lorraine, our winter this year has been very mild and great! The ski resorts have received a lot of snow with Telluride and the San Juan mountains receiving the least amounts. I don't think people here are depressed because of this past winter, I think it's a nationwide problem.

With the severe winter weather the southern Rockies have had, it's no wonder folks in Ouray think of suicide! The snow always vanishes in Spring, as should thoughts of suicide in our beloved Rockies.
