Out of Breath

A Poem About Being Suffocated by Feelings

Kylyssa Shay
It only hurts when I breathe but it's OK
because I can't breathe any more.

Your head on my pillowcase is like a dream of heaven.
I can't dream any more.
Kissing you makes me tremble to my soles.
I can't stand any more.
I feel your touch inside me like blood in the ocean.
I can't bleed any more.
Your tender whispers are my answered prayers.
I can't pray any more.

I bleed in my dreams -------------------------------I can't stand any more!
I breathe a silent prayer ---------------------------I can't stand any more!
I hear no answers from heaven -----------------I can't stand any more!
I whisper with my head beneath the pillow -I can't stand any more!
I touch your hair tenderly -------------------------I can't stand any more!
Your kiss stole my soul --------------------------I can't stand any more!
Drowning in your ocean --------------------------I can't stand any more!
Cast trembling on your shores ----------------I can't stand any more!
I can't wash blood from the ocean -----------I can't stand any more!

It only hurts when I breathe, but that's OK
because I can't breathe any more
and I'm headed out to sea.
