Out on DVD- Four Brothers

Carmen Isom
Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, Andre 3000 (Andre Benjamin) and Garret Hedlund in this tale of a four adoptive brothers who are trying to solve the murder of their sweet and innocent adoptive mother. Through investigation, they find out things about themselves and their mother that they never knew. Wahlberg is the leader of the brothers; all of them started out on the wrong side of the tracks and he was the worst. But their mother turned them around to a point when she took them in. Unfortunately they could never shake off what the streets taught them, unless they were in their mother's house.

Spilt up after everyone grew up and moved away, the four brothers come back to their mother's funeral. Once they find out that the police have no leads on the shooting, they decide to take matters into their own hands since they know the gangs and around the neighborhood. But there are secrets that some of the brothers don't want to be found out. Through more investigation and many twists and turns, the brothers finally find out who is at the head of their mother's demise and devise a plan to shut him down.

Wahlberg is fantastic in this film. He has an edge that he doesn't have in any other film. He is a leader but also from the streets so you get a strong presence. Tyrese is a hothead who does things his own way and doesn't take orders from anyone. He does this role with a swelling anger you can see off-screen. This is one of Andre's best films and he does a really good job at playing the good brother full of mystery. And a favorite of the younger crowd, Hedlund, is the baby brother who can't keep hold of his emotions but follows his brothers around like they are the salt of the earth.

The film is intense towards the end and gets pretty interesting while we try to figure out who set up who but in the beginning it moves a little slower than you want it to. But stick around because there are some great reveals and a lot of good moments between the brothers that are worth seeing. And the end is reminiscent of The Italian Job but is done in a much grittier sicker way. If you want something full of action and pain and related to gang warfare, this is the movie to watch.
