Out to Lunch

James R. Ford

a meeting for lunch at the sidewalk cafe

two new persons connecting in public

her eyes are big as she checks out his physique

he looks her up and down and down and up

and sideways too

the conversation goes well as they discuss past lives

different husbands different wives

future aspirations and current economic policies

they split the tab, leaving in the same car

arriving at the top of the world, hours later.
