Out of Milk Android App Review

Amy Brantley
I've been looking for an easy way to make a shopping list that was easy to edit for years. When I got my Samsung Omnia, I ended up using the notepad that was on the phone, but it wasn't what I was looking for. I also didn't want to spend $20 - $30 for an app that would do the simple tasks I needed. When I got my Droid 2, one of the first things I searched for was a shopping list app. I quickly found the Out of Milk app and noticed that it was not only highly rated by other members, but free as well. What did I have to lose? I downloaded it right away and am so happy I did.

As mentioned above, the Out of Milk app is free to download and install. It took less than a minute to download and was so easy to start using. I was hoping for an app that would let me enter in what I wanted to shop for and easily delete the item as I added it to my cart. With the Out of Milk app, I got that and so much more.

When you first open the app, you are asked to choose between a shopping list, to-do list and a pantry list. The shopping list allows you to quickly add items to your list by presenting a drop down list as you type in your item. This allows you to select the item without typing in the entire word. You can then click the button to the left to enter the price and number of items you want. Yes, you go it right. This shopping list app keeps a running total, which makes things even easier. You can then press the button next to the listed item to move it where you want on the list. You can also click on the item itself to edit, delete, move or click done to mark out the item without deleting it.

This is more that an awesome shopping list app though. The Out of Milk app also allows you to keep track of your pantry items, which makes it easy to prepare meals with what you have on hand. The app also features an easy to use to-do list that allows you to enter the task, date and notes.

If you hate keeping up with paper shopping lists and are tired of using an electronic notepad, the Out of Milk app is a wonderful option. It's free, easy to use, keeps a running total and even has other lists for your pantry and to-do items. I give this app 5 out 5 stars.
