Outdated Job Titles and Growing Job Markets of the Future

Are you bored with your job and looking for a new one? Are your kids old enough that you have decided to rejoin the workforce? Or are you close to graduating from school and are wondering what type of job you would like to have once you are completely out of school?

As you begin dreaming of your ideal dream job, first take a look at fifth teen out dated jobs. These were once titles of real jobs that people performed and now are no longer needed.

Telegraph Editor. A telegraph editor used to select and edit news items and edit them looking for mistakes such as spelling and grammar errors.

Bone Crusher. A bone crusher was a person who used to work in a factory using a machine that actually crushed the bones of animals. These bones were then used to make glue.

Check Writer. A check writer worked in the retail industry imprinting payment data onto checks and then writing out a detail summary at the end of each day.

Asbestor Shingle Roofer. An asbestor Shingle Roofer was a roofer that used only shingles that were made of asbestos material.

Banana Ripening Room Supervisor. A bandana ripening room supervisor was a supervisor in charge of workers who received, shipped and stored bananas.

Finger Cobbler. A finger cobbler repaired damages done to the outside of leather shoes such as scuff marks, crack and other blemishes.

Palm and Back Forger. A palm and back forger was a person who would sew the palm and the back onto a pair of gloves or mittens.

Thrill Performer. A thrill performer would work at such places as fairs and carnivals doing daredevil acts to thrill their audiences. An example of a thrill performer would be a man being shot out of a canon.

Hands Inspector. A hands inspector worked with watches and clocks inspecting their hands making sure they were accurate at keeping time and that they met the proper size and weight specifications.

Bonbon Dipper. A bonbon dipper was a person who worked with candy dipping it into coating mixtures for decoration then marking a symbol or a design on the top of the candy to indicate a certain type or brand.

Quartermaster. A quartermaster was a person who at sea would steer a boat under the direction of a navigating officer.

Sponge Diver. A sponge diver would work harvesting sea sponges from the bottom of the ocean.

Twister Hand. A twister hand was someone who would roll leaves of tobacco together to form it into twists. Sometimes a twister hand would also weigh the tobacco.

Rubber Attacher. A rubber attacher was someone who would glue pieces of rubber onto toys and sporting equipment.

Globe Mounter. A globe mounter was a person who would paste segments of world maps onto a sphere to make globes that would show the earth's surface.

Many of these jobs were lost because of progress. Machines were able to perform many of the jobs faster and safer. Some were just no longer jobs that were needed.

As you head into the workforce, you may wonder will the job you have now or the one you dream of having be in demand in the years to come. Here is a short list of what experts believe will be the top ten industries in the future.

1. Healthcare. Some excellent jobs to consider in healthcare are home health care aides, medical assistants and physical therapists.

2. Employment Services. This industry will consist of people helping others to find work and matching people up with employment that suites their skills.

3. Computer Systems and Design. This industry includes software engineers.

4. Information Jobs. Computers are going to be even more popular in the future. Software publishers and database administrators will always be able to find work.

5. Arts, Entertainment and recreation. These jobs will continue to grow. Along with these types of jobs, workout instructors and personal trainers will always continue to be in demand.

6. Transportation and Warehousing. Truck drivers along with freight and stock handlers will be in high demand for many years to come.

7. Real Estate. This will also include online brokers and agents.

8. Finance. Accountants will be in high demand in the future as they are now.

9. The public Sector. A surprise may be that federal and state jobs will be in high demand. This includes postal workers and teachers (especially public high school teachers).

10. Construction. Workers that can build houses, bridges and roads will always be able to find plenty of work.
