Outdoor Adventure Awaits You in the Hocking Hills

If you are looking for a fantastic outdoor adventure in the state of Ohio look no further than the famed Hocking Hills region. In a scenic setting the Hocking Hills region is about an hours drive from Columbus Ohio. The Hocking Hills region offers, the best hiking spots and the friendliest people in Ohio. About two and a half million people visit the Hocking Hills each year, to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, get in touch with nature, get a heck of a work out, and rest a little too.

If you are not a nature or hiking enthusiast, don't feel discouraged! The Hocking Hills may be famous for the outdoor adventures it offers, but there is so much more to do here than walk around outside! You might enjoy art, you can take a fantastic one hour art class at the Logan Art Gallery on Main Street, where you can dabble in oil painting or sculpt unique pottery for fifteen dollars per hour. If you like massages, we have certainly got you covered on this one! Many of the Inns and cabin rentals offer the service of in room massages. Additionally the Hocking Hills region is an excellent destination for Antique shopping. The region is home to numerous antique and craft shops, there you will spend hours upon hours browsing the treasures from years past.

Now lets get to the terrific outdoor activities awaiting your discovery. The Hocking Hills State Park system is home to numerous 'caves' as the locals refer to them. By far the most popular, and frequently visited park is Old Mans Cave. The hike can be a little strenuous, but it is well worth every moment to experience the beauty that lies within at Old Mans Cave. A long since forgotten hiking trail is hidden within Old Mans Cave, Broken Rock Falls can be located if you study a map of the park and pay attention. I would like to issue words of caution: This trail is strenuous, and it has not been maintained for many years. You will need to literally climb up a giant rock.

I have always loved both the upper rim and lower trail of Conkles Hollow, the low trail is a mile long, round trip and is mainly flat ground, making it ideal for older people and little children. Please be advised that this is one of the few places pets are not permitted in the Hocking Hills region as Conkles Hollow is not only a state park but also a nature preserve.

There are many other terrific activities in the Hocking Hills such as Camping, fishing, boating, shopping and canoing.
