Take a journey through all of the parks we have to offer, lets begin with Blue Spruce Park. Located on Blue Spruce Road, this park features two Pavilions which can seat anywhere from 35-250 people and two lodges that hold up to 150 people (both available for public rental). Also available are two playgrounds, a volleyball court, horseshoe court, and a 12 acre lake stocked with trout (open to the public for fishing and swimming), along with six miles of hiking trails and a garden near Lakeside Center Lodge.
Next we hike through Hemlock Lake, a 205 acre park featuring this 60 acre lake, with the deepest point being 33 feet. Hemlock Lake has two boat launches, available for a small fee, to enjoy fishing or just rowing. There are bluegill, muskellunge, walleye, northern pike, bass and catfish stocked in this lake for your enjoyment.
Swim along to Mack Park located on Carter Ave and North 6th Street also known as the "fairgrounds," where the Indiana County Fair is held every year. Mack Park also features an outdoor swimming pool complete with a 90 foot figure eight water slide, diving area, and wading area for youngsters. Also available are five baseball parks, three tennis courts and an enclosed picnic pavilion to make your day complete.
Walk along the trails at Memorial Park, located on South 6th Street. Park benches and a small pavilion shroud this small public park. Throughout the summer the county hosts 'bandstand' were local bands play outside in the arena starting June 1st and on through to August. The county also hosts a Memorial Day Program here honoring veterans, locally.
Secluded by trees all around the Getty Heights park is a 12 acre park located behind the Regency and Indiana Malls. Getty Heights features a pavilion that holds 72 people (reserved for a small fee), a softball field, volleyball area, playground, and golf course. Modern rest rooms and drinking water are available as well as picnic tables and barbecue pits.
There are just a few of the public parks that Indiana, Pennsylvania has to offer and as you can see there are a varying array of activities, from hiking, fishing, swimming, golf, tennis, volleyball, softball, baseball, and horse shoe courts readily available! Enjoy the outdoors!
