Recently I had the pleasure of watching a screening of a fine independently made romantic comedy entitled Outsourced, staring Josh Hamilton and Ayesha Dharker.
Written by George Wing (50 First Dates) and John Jeffcoat, who also directed the movie, Outsourced is a contemporary feel-good movie that takes a humorous look at cross-cultural clash and romance. The film takes a festive look at characters who are trying to bridge the cultural divide between America and India. It does so through the story of Todd Anderson (played by Josh Hamilton) an American call center manager, who must travel to India to train his replacement. The film is an imaginary tale with a very strong female lead Asha (played by Ayesha Dharker) who character "can do anything." But what starts out as an on-the-job conflict between Todd and Asha evolves into a physical attraction which eventually leads to a romantic rendezvous. But there is just one problem; Asha is engaged to marry someone else.
The movie is very enjoyable, and you'll find yourself laughing so hard at the various goings-on. Everything that's supposed to go wrong will. It's Murphy's Law at its finest. The characters are very likable and will keep you in stitches throughout the movie. The acting is superb and the scenery is just breathtaking. You will actually imagine being in India observing and participating in the everyday lives of the people. Outsourced is a well written and directed cinema.
The film is the winner of many distinguished awards. Some of the honors include: Best of the Fest, Palm Springs Film Festival, 2007, John Schlesinger Award, Palm Springs Film Festival, 2007, Audience Award, Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, 2007, and Golden Space Needle Award for Best Film, Seattle International Film Festival, 2007.
Outsourced debuted with its world premiere at the 2006 Toronto Film Festival, and following a successful run at festivals around the world, ShadowCatcher Entertainment, the production company behind Outsourced, has chosen to distribute the film independently in select theaters around the US and on DVD.
Outsourced is now playing in theaters and is available on DVD. Online orders and shipping are available only in the USA.
