Over 90,000lbs of Perdue Chicken Nuggets Recalled
Perdue Farms Voluntarily Recalls Over 90,000lbs of "Great Value" Chicken Nuggets After Blue Plastic Found in Product
Perdue's "Great Value" pre-cooked chicken nuggets are being recalled after the Perry, Ga. company received complaints from consumers about small pieces of blue plastic appearing in the chicken nuggets.
Important Information About Perdue's Chicken Nugget Recall
The recalled bags are 1lb, 13 ounces and appear with the label "GREAT VALUE Fully Cooked Chicken Nuggets". The chicken nuggets were made on June 9th and have a "Best Used by" date of June 9th, 2011. An establishment number "P-33944" and a case code number of "89008 A0160" appear on the back of the packaging. If you have questions about the recall you can call 1-800-4-PERDUE, 1-877-727-3447 or visit Perdue's Press Release for instructions. You can also visit the USDA for further information about recalls on food products.
According to the LA Times report, the chicken nuggets were shipped out on the same day to a single retail chain nationwide. Perdue's press release on the voluntary recall states that the national retail chain is Wal-Mart stores in the U.S.
Other Perdue Recalls
Perdue has had other chicken recalls including a recall on Perdue Perfect Portions: Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breast due to an undeclared allergen alert. Another Perdue product recalled earlier this year (March 2010) was Perdue's Sweet Italian, Lean, Turkey Sausage because it again failed to have an allergen alert on the packaging.
