Over the Edge - Jeanie London

Terri Pray
Over the Edge is the third Jeanie London novel I've had the pleasure of reading, and the second one I've reviewed for Associated Content. She's a joy to read and has an ability to pull the reader into the story regardless of anything else going on around you at the time.

Over the Edge is a well written contemporary erotic romance and number 110 of the Blaze line from Harlequin, released in November of 2003. The story starts ten years before the main body of the book. With sixteen year old Mallory Hunt using a kiss to distract Jake Trinity in order to give her father, and the team, chance to escape before the alarm is kicked off.

For ten years he's been haunted by the memory of that kiss and now he has a chance to even the score. He's never forgotten that her kiss not only allowed the majority of the team to escape but resulted in him being fired from his position. Ten years later he's successfully running his own company and Mallory is now running a legitimate security assessment business. An opening that gives Jake the chance to contact her and try for a little payback.

But Mallory hasn't forgotten the kiss either, and she intends to temp and seduce him to see just how far she can push things between them, but there's one problem. They are so well suited for each other, both sexually and otherwise, that she doesn't want to end things and that was not part of her plan.

Ms. London has created in Over the Edge, a steamy contemporary erotic romance that pulls out all the stops. In Mallory's line of work she has to show clients just where the weak spots are in their systems and Jake soon finds out just how easy it is to try and get the information she needs for the work. Between the internet, helpful employees and small things such as plans filed in the right office before buildings are even built, she can easily wheedle out the information without breaking the law.

That, in itself, shows me just how carefully Ms. London researched the background for this book. The sex scenes were hot, spicy, and far from boring. The characters jumped off the page and I could feel the sparks flying between Mallory and Jake. Although this book is an old one I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys this genre. It's a heated, quick and well written read.

Beautifully done, Ms. London. I look forward to reading more of your work in the near future.
