Overcome Insomnia Naturally

Sean Hein
Insomnia is a sleep disorder wherein the patient finds it difficult to fall and stay asleep in spite of a chance to do so. There are many causes for Insomnia like nervousness, stress, work related problems or other tensions. An insomniac usually resorts to sleeping pills to fall asleep, but that is not helpful and may have its own side effects on your overall health.

Here are some methods to overcome Insomnia and get your share of a good night's sleep.

1)Consult your family physician. Though Insomnia is usually caused due to strain, anxiety and tension in most people, it could be a sign of some other bodily disorders. Insomnia can get worse if we start worrying about it. It is always better to see your doctor and know his opinion. It may also happen that he may ask you to try out some solutions given below, before prescribing medication. Remember that natural remedies should be tried first. You can start medication if any of these techniques don't work out.

2) Have a hot water bath. Bathing relaxes your body and revitalizes you. Take care that the water you use is comfortably hot, and not very hot. Don't remain for a very long time in the shower, as it might drain out your energy. Adding a little jasmine oil or a mixture of salt and baking soda in your water will unwind your body and also help to detoxify.

3) Treat yourself to an invigorating massage. Getting yourself massaged is a great way to help you fall asleep. It may be a full body massage or just a head and back massage. The slow, mild strokes in a massage increase blood circulation in your body and release the tensed muscles. It is a very comforting procedure and you will sleep better and deeply after a massage.

4) Music therapy. Playing soft, calming music is the best way to fall asleep. Don't play hard rock even if it your favorite. Save it for party time. Nowadays, lots of instrumental music is available which is based on a nature theme like sea, wind, rain, valley etc. The musical waves create a peaceful atmosphere and put you to sleep easily.

5) A glass of warm milk at bedtime. Milk has its own soothing properties. Drinking a glass of warm milk fifteen minutes before bedtime will really help. The calcium in the milk acts upon the stressed nerves and comforts you.

6)Try herbal tea. For those who hate milk or are lactose intolerant, a cup of hot herbal tea is equally helpful. Certain natural herbs like fennel or anise are used to make this herbal tea. Many stores which sell health food also sell unique sleep inducing herbal tea mixtures which can be utilized too.

Amongst many other solutions for Insomnia, you can also try the following to support your main treatment methods:

1.Exercise regularly.

2.Fix your daily time to sleep.

3.Don't sleep in the afternoon.

4.Don't use alarm clocks or a night lamp.

Now nobody can stop you from going into a deep slumber! Kick off that Insomnia out of your life forever!
