Overlooked Sports

Sports are a major part of the American culture. Many people spend countless hours watching football, basketball or baseball. But there are certain sports that seem to be forgotten.

Certain sports that have not made it into the limelight like most of these others have. In this article I want to go over some of the sports that I feel have been overlooked and needs the same recognition as the major. So without further hesitation here is my list.

Pro Wrestling

One of my favorite sports is Pro Wrestling. I can already here what you are saying so let me go ahead and say it for you. "Wrestling is fake." I know it is fake, but that still dosen't discount it as a sport. Here is the great thing about wrestling. You have to have imagination to be in this sport. This sport is not like the average. There are storylines that are created, plus the matches between the men are real. Even though the outcome is staged. Hey, lets begin to show wrestling a little respect and put it in the lime light where it belongs.

Pro Martial Arts

Being a 2nd degree blackbelt, I naturally love the sport of karate. There are so many wonderful things about this sport, that it should be put in the rankings of these other sports. This has been a sport that has been overlooked for a very long time. The martial arts has evolve. We no longer have the traditional way they use to do martial arts. The younger generation has turned it into something that is exciting for anyone, not only martial artist to watch. Martial arts is starting to get a little limelight with the K1 fighting, but there are other aspects of this sports that needs to be highlighted also. Martial arts should be pushed to the forfront.

Pro Bodybuilding

Here is another sport that takes dedication and a lot of discipline. This is the sport of pro bodybuilding. These men put a lot of time and dedication to get the body's that have. Bodybuilding in a multi-billion dollar industry, but has not gotten the recognition that it deserves. This is mainly because most men don't want to stare at a bunch of other men in speedos. But there is more to bodybuilding than posing. They could use the sport to show other men how to get the results that they want out of there body's by learning from what the pros do.

Sports are wonderful. But getting out of the realm of just the big three would be a breath of fresh air. Discovering other sports opens up your mind to whole new world besides football, basketball or baseball.

Dude, first of all....two of the sports that you named are full of roided-up meatheads. How can pro wrestling be a sport? You can't have the outcome of a match decided before it even starts and call it an actual sport...it's not being won by who performs best, it's being won by whomever they decide is going to win beforehand. C'mon man, are you being serious with this? There IS something to be said for bodybuilders, however, I would like to know that they are not all on steroids first. I do agree with the martial arts though. That sport is full of skill and athleticism and it's fun to watch as well. I think it is gaining some respect and noteriety of late with the UFC, etc.
