OWN - Oprah Winfrey Network Launches New Year's Day

As if Oprah Winfrey didn't already rule the world, now she's expanding her empire with the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) debuting today. Oprah has decided this year to end her talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show after 25 seasons. Through the years, Oprah has expanded her brand and created a mini empire through her Book Club, Oprah radio and O Magazine, among other things. She has launched the career's of Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil, Nate Berkus and even gave Rachael Ray her show. Now Oprah Winfrey's going beyond a TV show and has created her own network, OWN.

OWN is set to debut on New Year's Day 2011 at 12pm. This last season of The Oprah Winfrey Show is certainly historic, and Oprah has decided to give the viewers of her OWN channel a behind the scenes look at the 25th season of the Oprah show. Be there to see the emotional and dramatic roller coaster, The All Access Pass: Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes, series beginning Saturday January 1st at 8/7c.

The first day of viewing is giving sneak peeks to some of the shows to come, including Oprah Presents Master Class, which will interview and discovery the lives of some of the most important and influential people on the planet, including Jay Z, Maya Angelou, Simon Cowell, and Condaleezza Rice. The show claims it will allow people to learn from those who are mastering life. Oprah Presents Master Class debut's Saturday January 1st at 2/1c and Sunday January 2nd at 10/9c.

Another show being featured on Oprah's OWN channel is Ask Oprah's All Stars, where your health, wealth and happiness questions can be answered by some of Oprah's favorites including Dr. Oz, Suze Orman and Dr. Phil. This four-part special debuts Sunday January 2nd at 8/7c. Robin Meade and Gayle King alternate moderating duties as these three all-stars answer questions and help people to better their lives.

These are just a few of the brand new TV shows on Oprah's OWN channel. At Oprah Winfrey's OWN website, you can enter your zip code and select your TV provider to find out which channel you can view OWN. Most will not be able to view OWN without purchasing an extra viewing package. Will Oprah Winfrey's OWN channel make the world a better place? Only time and ratings will tell.
