Owning a Vending Machine Business

Where Do You Start?

Kerry Mulherin
Most people are seeking the convenience of self employment these days, and what better way than with a vending machine business. It virtually runs itself with almost an approximate 80% return. The cost is around 4-8c per transaction. I would personally love a swag of these. You will not have the hassle of locating affordable office space, no staffing issues and there are tax advantages for being self employed such as deducting a percentage of your Mortgage interest, your utilities, your property taxes and retirement contribution allowances.

A California based company called YoNaturals is now providing an alternative for your vending machine fix. Stocked solely with a range of health foods and organic products, YoNaturals was named a Top 10 Business in 2007. Yozone machines stock food and drinks, so you can grab a healthy lunch without stopping in more than one location. YoNaturals have machines available to place in Health Clubs, Offices and Schools or any other location you choose, with a handy menu specifically designed for each location. You can choose from a wide variety of foods including health bars, juices and smoothies and even piping hot Organic meals. YoNaturals offers you the convenience of using cash, debit or credit card for your transactions.

If you've considered buying a vending machine, this may be the perfect option!

Vendstar is another great company who also provide a wonderful opportunity , let's look at it more closely.

Products:

Vendstar vending machines stock well known products such as Skittles, Gumballs and even Trailmix and yogurt coated raisins for the more health conscious customer. This is a great opportunity to help your favorite charity too, by partnering with them and their affiliates to raise money. A list of other locations can be requested from Vendstar so you can decide where your machine/s can be located near your home.

Service:

Servicing your machine takes around 10 minutes or so, per machine. If you happen to own 40 machines, these could be serviced in just one day. A customer service representative can assist you in forming a working relationship with a local candy supplier to keep your machines full and customers happy, or you may purchase candy directly through Vendstar. Should you have a problem with your machine, a technical support staff member can help you to resolve the issue.

Purchasing:

You can purchase 1 machine or many thousands of them.

They also offer some handy package prices which are a cost effective alternative if you would like multiple machines. Prices for the packages range from $9,995 for 30 machines, up to $50,395 for 180 machines.

Keeping all of your eggs in one basket when working for yourself can be problematic. I believe owning just one or two vending machine would be a terrific option for that extra income, without the hands on hassle.
