Folks? Have you heard about Wyoming's FREE Oyster Ridge Bluegrass Festival? Rolling Stone Magazine has called this concert one of the best free Bluegrass Festivals in the United States. Wyoming is not that far away from Denver, and this year our concert is the weekend after yours; you can see both concerts for fun.

Wyoming: July 25- 26- 27, 2008: Our complete line-up for the Oyster Ridge Music Festival has not been released yet. It will include names like Clumsy Lovers, Stairwell Sisters, L'Angelus, Dirty Sweet, The Paperboys, Mike Mangione, Robin Kissinger, Terri Hendrix w/ Lloyd Maines and more. This is a Wyoming Public Radio sponsored event.

What has impressed me about the Oyster Ridge Music Festival in past years is that it does not act like a free concert. It compares to the large concerts that people pay lots of money go to in the cities, while the name-brand bands are playing to us as a much smaller audience sitting in a park. It is a small enough gathering that you can still walk up to meet the performers if you'd like.

With Oyster Ridge Music Festival, you can bring your own ice chest, or sip your favorite refreshment sold by vendors in the park. There is food available in the park, eating establishments nearby to the park, or a grocery store one block away. People walk in and out of the park all weekend, because the event is free. After the event winds down in the evening, the bars around the park often supply live bands playing until morning.

If you are looking for a great time at a concert, Kemmerer, Wyoming is the place to be for the Oyster Ridge Bluegrass Festival held the weekend right after the Denver's paid concert show. Rolling Stone Magazine isn't wrong about this one. I've been there. I would probably go to Denver's show too, but they don't have the Clumsy Lovers, and I'm a big fan of that group.
