Warming up for Ozzy Osbourne at the Anaheim Convention Center, was none other than Level 80 Elite Tauren Chieftain (L80ETC), a Warcraft themed music group, who announced this evening that their band was changing its name. Sighs of relief turned into gasps as the announcement was made. The new name of the band is now officially "The Artist Formerly Known As Level 80 Elite Tauren Chieftain" (TAFKAL80ETC). The new name is to protest having to change names every time the level limit on World of Warcraft increases. Going all out with their new name, they also changed their image, using a spoof logo much like Prince uses, but with a Warcraft theme.
During the short breaks between songs, the crowd shouted and chanted for Ozzy! Ozzy! Everyone was pumped up about getting on with the show and having the Prince of Darkness take the stage.
The Anaheim Convention Center was filled with cheers as Ozzy Osbourne finally appeared, dressed in black jeans, black shirt, and plenty of black eyeliner. He sang familiar hits, such as War Pigs, Mr. Crowley, I Don't Want to Change the World, I Don't Want to Stop, and Iron Man. During guitar solos, so as not to be bored, Ozzy entertained himself by spraying the crowd with an oversized hose with two handles to control the strong stream of water. Other times, he threw buckets of water out into the audience, managing to soak himself in the process.
The last song of the set was "Crazy Train", and Ozzy brought on a surprise guest guitarist. Yuto Miyazawa, a 7 year old from Japan, WoWed the audience by playing the entire song along with Ozzy Osbourne's band. Several times, the lead guitarist stopped playing in order to let the listeners get the full effect of the amazing boy's talented guitar playing. One viewer said that if he hadn't seen the kid playing, he would never have known that it wasn't a band member. The performance was impressive and, from the looks on the faces of the band, they thoroughly enjoyed having Yuto Miyazawa on stage with them. Twice during the song, Ozzy picked up the little guitarist and put him on his shoulders, and the kid didn't miss a beat. Very impressive, indeed!
Ozzy Osbourne was definitely having fun and this was not just another gig for him. He's worked with Blizzard Entertainment in the past and was pleased to treat the convention goers to a very upbeat concert. Viewers seemed to be satisfied with the quality and length of the show, but after Crazy Train ended and the band was leaving the stage, the crowd went wild, shouting for Ozzy to come back for an encore, which he did. Ozzy himself was so into the concert and raising the noise level in the convention center that he told the crowd: If you promise me to go crazy like you've never gone crazy in your life, I'll do one more song. Satisfied with the response, Ozzy sang one last number before retiring from the stage. Paranoid. And that concluded BlizzCon 2009.

Post a CommentThe Prince of Darkness as so "proclaimed" to be - this is an enjoyable read. I've actually always enjoyed his many works in music - some which reflect a lighter side as well. He has good contrast, lol! Sounds like it could have been great fun really!! (Though I tend to avoid giant crowds =))
Sounds like an awesome time! :)

Love Ozzy, awesome review here, wish I was there!
Great recap!
Great review, it sounds like a crazy fun time. I would personally be more interested in seeing the seven year olf guitarist but that's just me...
A seven year olf guitarist? HOW AWESOME!!! I've always loved Ozzy's music, and have a few of his CDs. You did such a great job of describing this concert, it made me wish I was there!
Sounds like fun! He sprayed the crowd- how funny! The little kid must have been amazing!
