P. Diddy's Perfume Commercial, Dumped by Ad Executives

Most of America is Thankful

Combs produced and stars in a three minute version of a commercial to promote his new female fragrance "Unforgivable Woman". He had to go through U.S. television executives to get it on the air for the public to see. Diddys mini-movie was rejected by execs stating that it was too provocative and too sexual for television. The executives then demanded that the erotic content be edited. The New York Post reported that even executives at MTV had objected to the video. Diddy, being the stubborn person he is, refused to edit the commercial and has now released the commercial at www.myspace.com/diddy. The commercial, details Combs' encounter with a glamorous model played by model Jessica Gomez in a hotel lobby in New York. Across the bar, they catch eyes then head off for a night of steamy passion, stopping in random areas to make out.

I honestly do not believe that the commercial is too racy at all for TV. I have seen worse on reality shows. All it shows is model, (and horrible actress) Jessica Gomez, clad in lace underwear, with Diddy hugging and kissing her in weird and very awkward, badly posed positions. In my opinion the executives could not gain the courage to tell Diddy his commercial was a tasteless snore, (it really was)so instead they deemed it too racy. The executives were doing him a favor by rejecting the commercial, and trying to save him the embarrassment of having it aired on national television. Diddy then takes matter into his own hands and does it himself, putting the commercial on his myspace and you tube.

Diddy quotes, "I feel strongly that this movie needs to be viewed and judged by the public rather than by executives," Combs said. "Some people may be uncomfortable with the sensuality and sexual content, but it is important for them to make that decision personally."

Here is my comment to you Diddy. I feel that the commercial is not at all too sexual for TV, but I do believe that it is tasteless, badly acted out, and extremely boring. It took me a red bull and 3 pieces of chewing gum to stay awake even for three minutes. Another thing that I hate about this commercial, is that you can't tell if your watching a Diddy music video on mute, or if it's a new Victoria Secret Ad. Unless I am blind, (or fell asleep during the commercial) I did not see the bottle of perfume anywhere. The commercial is absolutely slow and boring, and the model looks like shes knitting sweaters. Advertisement should poignant, and straight to the point, and most important of all include your product somewhere in the advertisement. All this Ad tells me is that, if my sister wears it, she is going to come home smelling like she had awkward sex with P. Diddy. Diddys ego is far to huge for him to see the train wreck, and people around him are too afraid to say anything. Stick to making the band, and your flare for making hit duets with leading female vocalists. Spare us the horrible, never ending commercials. You should call Ciara, she is hot right now. Thank you TV executives, thank you MTV, you tried, but once again the Internet prevails.
