P90X2: The Equipment

Bring P90X2 Workouts to Another Level

Noah Lam

You might have done P90X several times and enjoyed Tony Horton's quotes and positive attitude. So are you ready to Bring It again for the upcoming P90X2. You probably have the basic equipment from the first series, such as

  • Television: I am sure you have this already as well has the other 100 million people, who get their news and entertainment from the box. Some might still have the CRT screens, but most likely you have a Plasma, LCD or DLP
  • DVD Player: When P90X came out a basic DVD play will do, however P90X2 has a Blu-Ray version as well, so now you really can see the beads of sweat pouring down the participants foreheads, arms and legs!
  • Resistance Bands or Weights: P90X2 is not different than P90X in using resistance. Resistance is key to getting stronger. Heck, if you need to, use a set of milk jugs, cans of soup, your cat, your dog, or your child!
  • Pull Up Bar: You remember doing corn rolls. Some kind of bar will be needed to pull yourself up for that back of yours.
  • Chair: Speaking of doing pull ups, I don't know how I could have ever do a single pull up with out some assistance. Having assistance will improve your form. Also you might have used them for Leg Swings!
  • Yoga Mat: Having extra cushion for your knees are such a big help!
  • Push up stands: Those extra inches make for a great push up.
  • Yoga Block(s): I still use them, so I don't fall down.
  • Water: You will sweat as usual, and you need to stay hydrated
  • Towel: More flop sweat!
  • Workout Clothes: Wear the appropriate shirt or top. I prefer the performance wicking cloths. The same goes for the performance shorts and socks. Cotton does not wick as well and your clothes will stick to you.
  • Heart Rate Monitor

P90X2 introduces the use of some new equipment. You might have some lying around, but if you don't. You probably will get them sooner or later:

  • Stability Ball: Just sitting on the ball automatically engages the core, and can make your back feel really good.
  • Bonsu Ball: Is basically a third of a ball, but provides enough instability so you have to be balanced to gain stability.
  • Medicine Balls: You will be using them for more stability, however a basketball will just do fine.
  • Foam Roller: Great for recovery, and giving yourself a great massage by squeezing out the lactic acid out your tired muscles. Your muscles will be crying but your body will thank you the next day.

The following is completely optional but you will eventually need to measure progress:

  • Scale: Basically, how much do you weigh?
  • Body Fat Caliper: How much body fat do you have?
  • Measuring Tape: How many inches have you grown or lost?
  • Blood Pressure Monitor: Has your blood pressure gone up for down?
  • Pencil: So you can write down the number of reps and weight you used, so you can do a little more the next time!
The most important equipment is you. Write down your goals, focus and Bring it!
