It's the morning after the Packers game and I would normally post my final thoughts. But, both because they played Monday night and the 45-7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings speaks for itself, I'm going to skip that and just post this week's pick.
Last night's game was a statement game. Green Bay is undefeated but last night's game was the first game they played exactly the way they were supposed to. They not only beat a lesser opponent, they bullied them on both sides of the ball. Had it not been for a muffed punt, I have no doubt the Vikings would have been scoreless.
The Packers now have a tough stretch ahead. They face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home on a short week and then travel to face Detroit with even less prep/recovery time. But the difference between championship teams and other teams is, when faced with a challenge, the championship teams don't falter and I just don't see the Buccaneers being the team to end Green Bay's win streak.
A couple seasons ago, Buccaneers' quarterback Josh Freeman snuck up on the Packers and beat them. But, two years later, he's just an ordinary guy on a team that can't run the ball and can't stop opposing offenses. If the Packers had to travel to Tampa Bay, I might give the Buccaneers a little more credit. But, with Green Bay playing at home, I think this is going to be yet another mismatch and we might see Matt Flynn get some snaps again.
Packers 41- Buccaneers 3
