Packers Prediction: Packers Will Beat New York to Go 12-0

Steve Helmer

One thing we all learned from the Green Bay Packers last season is the coaching staff knows how to adjust to injuries and, this week, the experienced they gained last year will be put to the test.

Even though the Packers haven't been completely injury free (Chad Clifton and Nick Collins being two of the big names lost), their season has been a bit smoother than it was a year ago and they haven't had to dig as deep into their depth chart. This week's match up against the Giants does change that a bit.

Thanks, in part, to 3 games in less than two weeks, the Packers will likely enter the game against New York with both starting inside linebackers watching from the sidelines. This hurts even more with the weekend arrest of Erik Walden; who may or may not be playing as he faces assault charges. And, on the other side of the ball, the Packers will also likely be missing guard Josh Sitton.

Some sports experts feel the Giants might be Green Bay's last real threat to end their on-going win streak; especially since they are the team that famously prevented the New England Patriots from going undefeated not too long ago. And, the Packers' injuries might help New York's cause. In fact, to be perfectly honest, I'm a bit concerned about the linebacker depth; not because D.J. Smith and Robert Francois didn't do a decent job last week in the Packers win over the Detroit Lions, because I'm not sure who they have left if either of them were to suffer an injury.

However, that being said, I still think Green Bay continues their winning ways on Sunday. Because of their short week last week, the Packers earned an extra couple days of rest/preparation for this matchup while the Giants are playing the defending Super Bowl champs after being completely dominated by the New Orleans Saints on Monday night.

I think the Giants offense will be able to move the ball against the Packers' depleted defense. But, as is the case each week, I don't see them matching Green Bay's firepower and they will once again be outscored.

Packers 38- Giants 20
