Packing and Moving Made Easy

We have all heard of the old ways people pack, and those are good ways too. When someone take out the time to pack in a neat and organized way is really a good thing to do. I use to think if I get a storage unit, pack really quickly put everything in the storage, and did not care if it was neat and organized, that I am doing a good thing, because I was able to get everything inside the storage unit really quickly.

I then learned that the way I was thinking was really awful, and not really practical, because when I needed something out of the storage unit, there was no way I could find it, remember I packed everything with out any kind of order, I put things where ever they fit, without thinking perhaps this would come back and bite me in the butt later, and that is exactly what happened to me.

I had to change my way of thinking, because it was really depressing the fact that I had all these things in one unit, and had no idea where anything was. I would basically have to go through everything in the storage unit, in order to find one item. So now I began to think of some old ladies that I knew who would take out the time to label their things when they were packing, and I use to think to myself, boring, they are really boring people. I use to think why in the world will these women take up so much time packing, organizing, labeling their things, for what? This has to be depressing so I thought, now I do understand why they took the time out to do this, it really does make a lot of sense.

If I could do it all over again, I would pack the old way, like those old ladies did, because they knew that if they did not take the time out to label their belongings ahead of time, that they would suffer later, when it gets to the point of finding things.

Now you would think that I am some kind of advocate for packing and putting things in the storage units, or even keeping things organized in the home. I like to know where things are once I look for something, it is not fun to look for something for an hour or so, it is ridiculous not to want things to be organized, especially in today's society, when everyone is running, and rushing, and getting to appointments. It is better to take the time out to and do things right the first time, by labeling, and putting things in their rightful places, so that later you can save yourself some trouble, headaches and time.

When it comes to packing up things to go to a storage unit, you put all the kitchen things, with the kitchen things, you put all the bathroom things, with the bathroom things, you put all the kids clothes and their things, with their things, but keep everything labeled, that is really key. Each child should have their own things, and each child's things should be labeled by the name of the child, and then you move on to the other members of the household, you do the same thing with each person. This is very important with keeping everything organized. You do the same thing with electronics, label them, name them and put them away in their own section of things. This way everything is very organized. When you get to the storage unit, you do the same thing there, keep everything organized, and keep everything in its own section, including your books; you do the same thing with the books, and everything else that you have. Now later on when there is something that you need to get out your storage unit, you can put your hand on them in a snap, and with peace, and you can feel really proud that you did all the work in advance, get what you need to get out the storage unit, and keep it moving.

When you are keeping an organized house, it is similar to the storage unit; you have to keep things together in an orderly fashion. Everything still has to be in their appropriate places, according to what they are. Keep things organized in a way that if you needed to move, it would not distract your entire home doing so, you would only have to pack, and label things according to their sections.

I know when you are living with people, that everyone doesn't see things eye to eye, you have some people who do not like order, and they don't mind things being scattered and disorderly, and then you have others who enjoy seeing everything well kept, and neat. This may not work for someone who have people in their home who doesn't care, but what I can say to those who care about things being kept neatly, is when you are in a position to be able to add these ideas to your lifestyle then do so, because it will make life easier for you in the long run. I have not always been able to do these things myself after learning the correct way of doing things, because I had people who were moving things into storage units, and did not want to put things up neatly. So I've been there myself, but when I was in a position to do things on my own, I did things the right and more sensible way.

If you practice this, you can be on to a good organized year that will bring you more joy, instead of stress.
